The police
in Bauchi State have raided a birthday party in a hotel in the Yelwa area of
Bauchi State and arrested 14 suspected cult members.

Our
correspondent learnt the party was organised by one of the suspects, a 22
year-old Michael Mlanga, on Saturday at about 10pm.
According to the police, operatives from Yelwa Division, following an
intelligence report, stormed the hotel and arrested the cult members, who also
had tattoo inscriptions on their bodies.
Three black
berets with badges of a cult group and one black bag were recovered from the
suspects.
The state
Commissioner of Police, Garba Umar, who paraded the suspects on Tuesday, said,
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects went to the hotel to
attend the birthday party of one of their members. They would be charged to
court at the end of investigation.”
Meanwhile,
the police have paraded a three-man gang of robbers, which attacked a bus
driver and hijacked 90 bags of rice on Adamu Jumba Road in Bauchi town.
Our
correspondent gathered that the gang members – Idom Freedom, 35; Rotshak
Danladi, 30; and Yakubu Mohammed, 33 – were arrested on Friday in Nasarawa
State with only three bags of rice left.
According to
the police, on Wednesday, June 7, at about 11am, the robbery suspects waylaid
the white Toyota Hiace bus, with registration number XA166DRZ, conveying the
rice from the residence of one Dayyabu Chiroma of Commissioners Quarters,
Bauchi.
The suspects
attacked the driver, Yusuf Hussaini, 36, at gunpoint, and blindfolded the
driver, dumping him off at Firo village near Gubi Dam.
The CP said
the suspects would be arraigned in court at the end of investigation.
