EDUCATION: FPI RECTOR TACKLES COVID - 19

The Federal Polytechnic Ilaro today take a bold step towards battling coronavirus disease COVID-19 by inaugurating a team of researchers to design and fabricate mechanical VENTILATOR, which is a major equipment in tackling Covid-19.
Corona virus is a respiratory disease which affects the respiratory organ thereby making it difficult for the victim to breathe.
The mechanical ventilator is what is required to aid respiration.

Inaugurating the research team, the Rector, Arc. Segun Aluko, who said that the assignment was a challenge from the Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education, (NBTE) encouraged  the team to endeavor to come out with a modern ventilator which will assist in fighting the killer virus currently ravaging the universe.

Arc. Aluko stressed  that by so doing, the team would not have  only helped in saving lives, but etching their names in history. He added that the Polytechnic is ready to support the team with the provision of all their needs towards making the research, designing and fabrication of the ventilator a huge success.

Arc Aluko however called on all members of the Polytechnic community to support the team with prayers, because, according to him, the success of the team is the success of not only the Polytechnic, but that of technical education.
Responding, a members of the team assured the Rector that they will work tirelessly towards delivering the Rector's mandate.

Members of the team include the following ; Dr Abiodun Odunlami, Dean, School of Engineering, Dr. B. M. Jesusina, the Director, Medical Services, Udom, U. J, Adetona, Z. A, Balogun, A. B, Ogunyemi J, and Oloyede, E. O (Electrical /Engineering), Chapi, S. P. and Fakeye, A. B. (Mechanical engineering), Akintade, J. O and Dr. Okunsanya, M. A. (ABET),  Olasina, J. R. (CTE), Afolayan, A. O. and Jayeoba, B. O. (SLT).
The team which was given two weeks for the assignment was quarantined in the Guest House of the institution for concentration and safekeep through out the period.
